Newborn covers are a must-have for prefolds and flats. Use them as the waterproof layer. 

They’re made from PUL, a waterproof fabric, and feature a double gusset to help keep the mess in the nappy. 

Unless soiled, covers don’t need to be cleaned after each change—use them 2 - 4 times before tossing in the wash.
